For those young people that do remain in the town, finding something interesting to do until they leave here or drop dead is a daunting prospect. Unless holed up inside their house, the only real option seems to be hanging out at the neighbourhood bar. Shit! They can’t even play soccer in the streets because of the hills here; they’d be chasing the ball down the mountain all day long.
It’s strange, the groups of teens on motor scooters (you can start riding 50cc scooters at 13) don’t exist up here like they do in the south. Nobody I spoke with had any explanation for this. At least that would be something to do… gasoline fuelled rural teen terrorism; the Hell’s Angels would have nothing on a group of rampaging little “bastardi” like that.
